Finder Tips and Tricks

In Mac OS X, Finder is the application that runs everything.
Finder has many nice features to help in finding the file you want.
Quick Look
- Quick Look allows you to see what the file looks like without actually having to open it.
 - To use it:
 - Find the file in question and Press the Spacebar
 - Alternatively, you can click the following icon:

 
Spotlight
- Spotlight allows you to search for a file if you know the name of a file but now where it is.
 - To use it:
 - Open Finder by clicking the icon:

 - In the top-right corner of the window, there will be a search bar:

 - Click in the bar and start typing the name of the file.
 - The results change as you type
 
Views
- Finder offers four different views for how it displays the window.
 - Icon View - 
 - This view displays files and folders as thumbnails with no details about the item - List View - 
 - This view displays the files and folders in a list with customizable details displayed - Column View - 
 - This view displays the files and folders with hierarchy intact. You can see at least two levels back from where you are. - Cover Flow - 
 - This view combines the List and Icon views into one. The icon is displayed in a window above while the list below.
